Assistant Day Service Director



While this position specifies responsibilities, requirements and duties in certain operational areas, this person is an employee at will of Independent Living Services and will be expected to respond to such requests not specifically contained herein.  This person must maintain the attitude that he/she works for the total organization, and as such, exhibit proper cooperation, enthusiasm and interest in all areas deemed necessary for the continuing success of ILS programs.  Knowledge of the ILS Policy and Personnel Manuals is required.



  • Responsible for overall program operations of Profiles Productions a work program of Independent Living Services, Inc and ensures that the facility operates within all safety, regulatory, fiscal, and agency standards.
  • Responsible for obtaining ongoing contract work for the program to assure the programs viability
  • Directly supervises all production staff.



  • Work closely with the Development Department to develop and procure manufacturing and service contracts.
  • Prepares bids and designs methodology for fulfilling bidding procedures for new potential work contracts and reviews all information with Profiles Director before submitting bids.
  • Maintains appropriate level of supplies to assure timely completion of contracts.
  • Plans and implements quality control systems that ensure products produced meet or exceed the customers expectations.
  • Assures all Dept of Labor paperwork is maintained and updated as required for each contract.
  • Assures all DDS requirements are met in order to maintain DDS license.
  • Actively participates in community affairs as they relate to the needs of organization.
  • Keeps abreast of training and work opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities by maintaining solid work relationships with all funding sources and by attending appropriate seminars.
  • Coordinates all necessary paperwork to assure proper billing and consumer payroll is completed on time.
  • Interviews, hires, supervises, and trains all staff at Profiles Productions.
  • Attends all training and staff meetings as required by Profiles and ILS.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in business or related field or  5 years experience in supervision, job placement, job training or job procurement.



Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, parentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

NOTE: Part-time employees working less than 30 hours weekly do not qualify for benefits.
